Employment
can be transformative
Kyall needed a second chance. A series of events and decisions left him out of work and in real trouble. He chose to pay off his debt through community service. Having faced multiple and complex barriers to employment his whole life, Kyall joined the RRA Noosa team on a community service order in mid-2021.
“For the first time I felt that I could work with a team. I got to learn new things, to talk to other people here. I always love to come here to be honest.” “When I found out that I had got the job I was stoked. Even though I got myself in trouble, they’ve given me this opportunity to get myself back up. I think that is amazing of RRA”

Kyall’s hard work and determination were immediately apparent, and Kyall was offered paid work in Sept 2021.
According to Reviva Noosa Manager Mitchell McIntyre, Kyall showed “a real commitment to turning his life around as well as a great work ethic.”
With the support of RRA, Kyall quickly skilled up. He became proficient in customer service, merchandising and pricing at the Reviva Reuse Shop. He took the opportunity to care for Country, diverting waste from landfill, by recycling mattresses and processing expanded polystyrene as part of a trial with Noosa Shire Council.
RRA’s development pathway saw Kyall earn his test and tag and first aid certification, along with a forklift license. His confidence grew dramatically and his future job opportunities are bright.
Today, Kyall works for Noosa Shire Council as their Weighbridge Operator. A true testament to the career pathways RRA builds for people.
The employment and training opportunities that RRA team members like Kyall enjoy are made possible by our #WASTE2WAGES model and the support of our local government partners, in this instance, Noosa Shire Council.
