Celebrating 20 Years of Leadership, thank you Matt.

RRA Announcement

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone as our General Manager, Matt Curtis, marks 20 years with Resource Recovery Australia.

“Through your honest and authentic leadership, your RRA people can be what they can see. You’ve left a legacy, and that’s the most satisfying thing you can do as a leader.” Danny Conlon, Community Resources Board Director

Matt began his journey with RRA in 2005 through a mature-aged traineeship after working on fishing boats, seeking a role that would keep him closer to his family. Starting as a depot hand at our Tuncurry site, he worked across every part of the operation, from the shop and weighbridge to mattress processing and heavy machinery.

With no formal qualifications at the time, Matt seized the opportunity with determination and drive. Over two decades, his commitment and belief in what we do have helped shape RRA into the thriving social enterprise it is today.

From a small local team of six to a national organisation with more than 150 employees, Matt’s leadership has been instrumental in growing RRA’s impact and ensuring we deliver on our responsibilities to the communities and councils we partner with. His passion for reusing and recycling before landfill has had a huge impact and has helped build strong trust with our partners in the continual delivery of Council goals.

Toasting Matt’s milestone at last night’s management dinner, Board Director Danny Conlon put it perfectly:

“Through your honest and authentic leadership, your RRA people can be what they can see. You’ve left a legacy, and that’s the most satisfying thing you can do as a leader.”

Matt, thank you for everything you do. Your journey and dedication inspire us.
