Reuse and Repurpose to Win: Reviva Reuse Competition
Rocky News
Rockhampton locals are invited to participate in the Reviva Reuse Competition, which celebrates creativity in upcycling and reuse. Now in its fifth year, the competition encourages entrants to transform discarded items into functional or artistic pieces, with cash prizes up for grabs.

“Upcycling helps reduce waste and the demand for new raw materials… Our community never ceases to amaze us with what they can create.” Reviva Rockhampton Area Manager, Kahli Pearson
Upcycling helps reduce waste and limits the demand for new raw materials, supporting sustainability efforts in the community.
As living costs rise, reuse becomes an increasingly practical and eco-friendly solution.
Reviva Rockhampton Manager, Kahli Pearson, shared, "This competition is the highlight of our year because it showcases the incredible ideas and talents in our community."
Past entries have included everything from repurposed clothing to intricate mosaic art and entire kitchens made from upcycled materials.
Resource Recovery Australia, the organisation behind Reviva, operates Reuse Shops across Australia, helping divert reusable items from landfills and promoting sustainable living.
These shops play a key role in Australia's circular economy, providing second-hand goods and employment opportunities for individuals facing barriers to work.
Reviva is committed to supporting the Rockhampton community by offering guidance and inspiration for creative projects.
According to Kahli, "Upcycling helps reduce waste and the demand for new raw materials… Our community never ceases to amaze us with what they can create."
