Celebrating a Fresh Start for Reuse in the Top End: Reviva Darwin Officially Opens Its Doors
NEW SITE OPEINING
We recently marked a major milestone at Resource Recovery Australia – the official Open Day of our newest site, Reviva Reuse Shop Darwin!

"support a not-for-profit social enterprise and support our community and workers." City of Darwin CEO Simone Saunders
Since opening in mid-February, our Darwin team has hit the ground running, working to give quality items a second life, creating local jobs, and keeping valuable resources out of landfill. In just seven weeks of operation, the results speak for themselves:
- Waste diverted from landfill: 48.6 tonnes
- Items rehomed: 11,305
- Customers served: 4,280
That's thousands of items saved from landfill and thousands of community members choosing reuse.
A Community Celebration
The Open Day was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our community and celebrate the early impact of Reviva Darwin. We were honoured to welcome City of Darwin CEO Simone Saunders, who shared the City's ambitious goal to divert up to 50% of waste from landfill as part of its Waste Resource and Recovery Strategy. Simone encouraged the community to "support a not-for-profit social enterprise and support our community and workers."
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Mary Williams from Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation for delivering a powerful Welcome to Country. We're also grateful to the Mission Australia Transition to Work team for serving up a delicious sausage sizzle that kept our guests well-fed and happy.
