One year on, Reviva Darwin is making a real difference

City of Darwin - 8 May 2026

Resource Recovery Australia is proud to see the Reviva Reuse Shop in Darwin recognised by City of Darwin, celebrating a successful first year of operation at the Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility. The milestone highlights the growing role of reuse in delivering practical environmental and social outcomes for the Darwin community.

“Since opening last year, Reviva Darwin has demonstrated the significant difference reuse and recycling initiatives can make for our community and environment” said City of Darwin Lord Mayor, Peter Styles

Since opening in 2025, Reviva Darwin has quickly become a valued community hub, focused on reuse, recycling and creating local opportunities.

Over the past year, the shop has welcomed more than 35,000 customers and diverted over 340 tonnes of material from landfill, helping to recover valuable resources and reduce waste across the region.

Alongside these environmental outcomes, Reviva Darwin continues to deliver strong social impact through Resource Recovery Australia’s #WASTE2WAGES model. The site provides employment and training opportunities for people facing barriers to work, equipping team members with practical skills in areas such as customer service, retail operations and workplace safety.

The shop is also helping to support local organisations, with more than 3 tonnes of goods donated to charities and community groups across the Top End.

This success reflects the strong support of the Darwin community. By donating quality items and choosing to shop second-hand, residents are playing a direct role in keeping materials in use and supporting meaningful local outcomes.

Working together with the community, the Reviva team helped create animals from recycled tyres for the annual Darwin Christmas Pageant float
