Resource Recovery Australia is a social enterprise: a different kind of business.

We operate reuse shops, transfer stations, problem waste, EPS Polystyrene Recycling, community workshops, consulting, container deposit scheme (CDS) and community recycling centres (CRCs). We engage local communities in our work. We do this to:

  • Keep waste out of landfill
  • Create stable and meaningful jobs for people experiencing barriers to work
  • Engage and connect people in the communities in which we work

Last financial year Resource Recovery Australia kept 23,000 tonnes of waste out of landfill and employed 90+ people, 75% of whom joined the organisation when experiencing barriers to employment.

Resource Recovery Australia is a social enterprise of Community Resources, a national not-for-profit community development organisation. It exists to create jobs that make communities better.

To do this, Community Resources runs three environmental repair social enterprises – Green Connect, Soft Landing and Resource Recovery Australia; as well as a range of community services.

Last financial year Community Resources employed 469 people, across NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD and WA, 75% of whom joined the organisation when experiencing barriers to employment. These jobs cared for people and planet, and through this work we kept 52,000 tonnes of waste out of landfill, grew and distributed 35,166 kilograms of fair food, and provided 18,016 instances of community service to individuals.
