Beginners Upholstery

Learn the basics of upholstery by upcycling milk crates and materials into a funky crate seat.
+BYO scissors, a staple gun (+8mm staples), a small flat screwdriver or staple remover, a Stanley knife, cotton/thread and sewing machine if you have one (we can share the machines).

Fabric Printing

Recycle your fabrics by printing onto them with new funky designs. Revamp things such as cushion covers, tote bags, pillowcases, aprons, tea-towels and table cloths. Janine will teach printing images with fabric paints onto cotton and linen in creative ways to upcycle your textile items.
+BYO cushion covers, tote bags, pillowcases, aprons, tea-towels and table cloths, or some salvaged fabric to print onto. BYO apron, and a small pair of sharp scissors or stanley knife.

Macrame

Learn basic knots that are useful for repairing and making things
such as handles for things, hanging baskets, wall decorations, repairing
the ends on hammocks, or incorporate macramé into and around found
objects.

Pallet Wall Planters

Using salvaged wood pallets and found things we will create unique and funky planters to hang on the wall. Learn how to use the mitre saw, the power drill and driver in this class.

Creative Mending of Clothing

Michele Elliot will guide you through some creative stitching to repair tears and holes in a worn and loved item of clothing. Using the kantha technique of hand stitch combined with patching, you can recycle clothing as well as fabric scraps to breathe new life into your garments. Join the creative mending revolution!
BYO: clothes to repair, cotton embroidery thread – stranded, fabric for patching , scissors and embroidery needles.

Tinkerage Tool Skills for Adults

Are you new to working with tools and don’t know where to start? The Tinkerage is the place. Learn how to use a variety of tools safely and efficiently. Develop hands on skills for life, that you can use to repair or up-cycle things around your home.
Participants must wear enclosed shoes.
BYO earplugs, goggles, and gloves.

The Tinkerage workshops are FREE for residents living in the Shellharbour City Council area. For non-Shellharbour residents $40 fee applies.
