Reviva Toowoomba’s Wellcamp and Kleinton stores are located on Barunggam Country over the Great Dividing Range in the stunning Darling Downs. The region is known for its sprawling gardens, which are celebrated yearly with the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
Reviva Toowoomba has become known for its reuse treasures inside the shop and its reuse and upcycle inspiration that adorns the entry. As you step out of your car at Reviva Wellcamp, you are overcome with beauty. The beauty of the surrounding landscape and the beauty of everyday things reimagined into displays and gardens.
As you journey further into a Reviva reuse shop, you discover how these shops differ. You’re greeted by friendly, smiling faces, a team who genuinely enjoy their jobs and supporting their community and environment.
At Reviva Kleinton, a counter upcycled from discarded pallets and tin catches your eye, a perfectly imperfect example of style and upcycle possibilities of “waste” reimagined.
As you turn to take in your surroundings, you see beautifully merchandised lounge rooms and dining rooms, complete with styled vases, glassware and tableware. You spot shelves stacked neatly with treasures and potential. Perfectly straight rows of furniture draw your eye to every last piece.
As you explore the shelves, you discover an enamel wash set with a small flower decal, the perfect addition to a country-style home. A beautiful crystal vanity set catches your eye, just like the one on Nana’s bench that was too special to touch.
You venture further still, discovering an antique piano. Team member Danna sees you admiring the details and explains, “can you believe this beautiful piano is over 150 years old? It was imported by William Henry Paling when he immigrated from the Netherlands in 1853.”
You pause a while, chatting and imagining how many piano lessons and family sing-alongs this piece must have seen in its lifetime. It has been a while since you had someone to chat with and the team’s kind and friendly nature puts you at ease.
You walk outside, momentarily overwhelmed by the vast outdoor space; there’s no rush here though so you meander through, spotting bikes, hardware and exercise equipment. A bath catches your eye, and your imagination runs wild with possibilities. Will it be the first family bath in a renovated home or a feature in a garden? The upcycle possibilities are endless.
As you near the counter to pay for your treasures, Jamie greets you with a friendly smile and asks, “how are you today?” and waits for your response; you realise that this is someone that cares.
Shopping at a Reviva reuse shop is about more than buying second-hand and saving a dollar; Reviva is a safe and welcoming place for the whole community. It’s a place that creates opportunities for the team, the environment and the community as a whole.
Reviva Toowoomba operates thanks to the support of Toowoomba Regional Council.
